Tear-Jerking Photo Shows Officer Comforting Baby Immediately After Car Crash
When he arrived at the scene of a car crash on Interstate 20, Jefferson County, Alabama, Deputy Ric Lindley noticed a woman who'd been in the accident needed help. He was holding her baby while she composed herself, ABC 3340 reports, when someone took the above photo.
The emotional picture has been shared thousands of times and liked by more than 21,000 people on Facebook in less than 24 hours. The photo is reminiscent of a heart-wrenching one from earlier this year in which a police officer distracted a child as her parents were pronounced dead at the scene of a car crash. Thankfully, the confirmed there were no serious injuries sustained by anyone in this accident.
The most-liked exchange in the comment section of this photo is from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (another police department that is particularly skilled at Internetting). Lindley thanked PBCSO for their kind comment:
It turns out Lindley is a father and grandfather himself, making him extra compassionate toward the baby in need. "We have feelings and we try to treat people out here just like we would want someone to treat our children or our spouses or our parents," he told ABC. Thank goodness for the good people, guys.
