This is the secret breakfast ingredient Kate Middleton swears by every morning
If it's good enough for a royal...
If you’ve ever wondered how Kate Middleton stays so healthy despite all those appearances and tours which, although, yes, she is a princess, must still be pretty tiring, we’ve got the answer.
While trying to juggle being a monarch, mother, wife and general public figure, Kate apparently swears by one ingredient to keep her health in check. The Queen-to-be, who’s a regular at Kensington Palace gym, makes sure she eats spirulina every day to keep her energy levels high. And, when you look up the benefits of this green, it makes sense, too.
It’s been reported that the Duchess of Cambridge starts her mornings with a kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, coriander and blueberry juice which she always adds spirulina to and it’s no surprise there’s been a spike in spirulina searches ever since.
What is spirulina?
Spirulina is a type of green algae that is found in oceans and lakes and is dubbed ‘a miracle food’ because of its high protein content and super healthy micronutrients.
And it really is one of the superfoods taking over social media, with over 500,000 uses of the hashtag #spirulina on Instagram at present – but no, none of those are Kate’s gym selfies, sorry.
Holland & Barrett expert Elizabeth Wall explains that Spirulina is such a superfood ‘because it’s packed with naturally occurring Amino Acids, Fatty Acids, Vitamins and Minerals, it is nature’s highest source of chlorophyll pigment.’
‘Suitable for vegetarians and vegans, you can add Spirulina to practically anything.
